Facts and practical information
The hidden Dreikönigenpförtchen is the only one of the gates of the many former Cologne monastic immunity districts to have survived. It was at the walls of these monasteries and convents that the city's legislative power and fiscal sovereignty ended. The small gate connects the Lichhof of the church St. Maria im Kapitol with the Marienplatz. The small gate is not to be confused with the medieval Dreikönigenpforte, a gateway of the Rhine-side city fortifications demolished in 1854.
