The Leibniz Temple in the Georgengarten in Hanover is a pavilion building erected from 1787 to 1790 in honor of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, a citizen and polymath working in Hanover. It is considered the first public monument in Germany to a non-nobleman. The open, roofed round temple made of sandstone with twelve Ionic columns bears the inscription "Genio Leibnitii" in gilded letters.
