Obere Pfarre - Zu unserer lieben Frau, Bamberg
Facts and practical information
The Church of Our Lady or Upper Parish is a Gothic Roman Catholic parish church in Bamberg. It belongs to the pastoral area Bamberg West in the Bamberg deanery of the Bamberg diocese.
The popular name Upper Parish was given to the church because of its location on the Kaulberg as a counterpart to the Lower Parish, the former parish church of Old St. Martin on the Maximiliansplatz, which was demolished in 1805.
Worthy of note is the image of the Virgin Mary with Child in the high altar and the altarpiece of the former great Marian altar of the Cathedral with the painting of the Assumption of Mary by Jacopo Robusti, called Tintoretto.
