The Elias Cemetery in Dresden is considered the city's most important cemetery in terms of cultural history. The burial ground in the Pirnaische Vorstadt, which has been disused since 1876 and closed since 1924 for traffic and security reasons, is a listed building. Due to its special significance, the 13,162 m² cemetery was included in the German government's "Nationally Valuable Cultural Monuments" support program in 2015.
