Bismarckturm Memmingen, Memmingen
Facts and practical information
The listed Bismarck Tower on Memminger Hühnerberg was built in 1904 by the local Verschönerungsverein according to plans by Memminger's master builder Peter Lang as a lookout tower with a height of 18 meters, an extension and battlement crowning.
After barely four years, the tower was rededicated as the Bismarck Tower by admirers of Otto von Bismarck. A Bismarck coat of arms, made by master stonemason Georg Pöppel and originally colored, and a Bismarck relief, created by sculptor Gustav Adolf Daumiller from Memmingen and cast by Christoph Lenz from Nuremberg, were attached to the bay window. Furthermore, removable fire baskets were acquired for the firing of the tower.
Below the Bismarck coat of arms, the Bismarck motto IN TRINITATE ROBUR was placed. Today, the motto is no longer present. The coat of arms was painted over in white and the entrance was bricked up.
Other inscriptions were located on the four sides of the tower below the viewing platform

In 2000 the tower was renovated and the white paint was renewed. On July 28, 2011, a fire was set in the tower by unknown persons. A tin shed burned out and there was property damage of 5000 euros.
