The Thuringian University and State Library is the central university library of the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena.
As a universal scientific library, its task is to supply literature to the University of Jena and the city itself. The ThULB is the largest library in Thuringia and, as a state library, performs more extensive bibliographic tasks, such as safeguarding historical holdings and collecting specimen copies. As a research library, it maintains numerous relationships with other institutions.
Since May 1, 2020, the director of the library has been Michael Lörzer, who previously headed the ThULB on an interim basis. He reports in his activities to the president of the university.
