The Düsseldorf Arcaden are a shopping and leisure center in the Unterbilk district of Düsseldorf on the site of a former freight station. The overall project of around 48,500 m² included retail space for around 110 stores, gastronomy, various services and a swimming pool. Also integrated into the site are apartments, a parking area, event facilities, a branch of the municipal library and 850 parking spaces. In addition, the district administration office for City District 3 has been located in the building since September 6, 2008. The shopping center was opened on September 23, 2008. However, some of the residential construction and park design were still in the development phase at the beginning of 2010.
