Facts and practical information

Herrenchiemsee Monastery is a former Augustinian canonical monastery on the island of Herrenchiemsee in Lake Chiemsee, Bavaria. The monastery church served as the cathedral of the diocese of Chiemsee from 1216 to 1807, while the Augustinian canons of this monastery formed the cathedral chapter. After secularization in Bavaria, the monastery buildings were transformed into the Old Herrenchiemsee Palace.
