Hofgarten, Düsseldorf
Facts and practical information
The Hofgarten is the central park in Düsseldorf. It is located in the city center in the districts of Stadtmitte and Pempelfort and has a total area of 27.73 ha, of which 13 ha are meadow areas. The park area stretches from Jacobistraße with Jägerhof Palace and the adjacent Malkastenpark to Heinrich-Heine-Allee on the Old Town and from Königsallee to Ehrenhof on the banks of the Rhine. Numerous historical monuments and modern sculptures enliven the park, which in terms of design marks the transition from the Baroque garden style to the English landscape garden. The oldest part of the public court garden was laid out as early as 1769. This makes the Düsseldorf Court Garden Germany's first and oldest public garden.
