Lukaskirche Porz, Cologne
Facts and practical information
The Lutheran Lukaskirche in Cologne-Porz was built in Art Nouveau style from 1914 according to plans by Max Benirschke.
It is a hall church with a tower on the west facade, whose two-tiered spire with a half-ton as the uppermost finial is based on the wedding tower of Joseph Maria Olbrich on the Mathildenhöhe in Darmstadt. Above the entrance gate is a representation of the Eye of Providence.
In 1927 the church was furnished in the style of expressionism. The Lukaskirche was the mother church of the Protestant community in Porz.
