Facts and practical information
The Augsburg Nature Museum is operated by the city of Augsburg and is located in the "Augusta Arcaden" in the northern part of the old town. The main focus of the exhibitions from the fields of geology, mineralogy, botany, zoology and paleontology is the Molasse, a soil layer consisting of weathering debris that makes up the subsoil of much of the Alpine foothills and southern Germany. Augsburg's Natural History Museum is the only one in Germany to specialize in this area.
