Stallegger Tanne, Wutach Gorge
Facts and practical information
The Stallegg fir was a white fir designated as a "protected natural monument" in the Löffingen district of Göschweiler. It stood on the left side of the river in the Wutach Gorge, between the Stallegg power station and the Stallegg Bridge, all named after Stallegg Castle.
The fir tree had a height of 52 meters and a circumference of 4.52 meters. Its age was estimated at 250 years around 1980. The fir was examined in 2010, it was found that the trunk was hollow, but still continued to grow.
On August 13, 2014, the crown was torn off in a length of about 20 m by a squall, and in 2018 the Stallegg fir was dead.
