Bülowhöhe
Facts and practical information
The Bülowshöhe is a cliff in the Harz Mountains near Thale in Saxony-Anhalt.
The Harz Cliff is located on the President's Trail leading from the Rosstrappe Mountain Hotel into the valley to Thale just a little below the Rosstrappen Hotel. From the Präsidentenweg, a staircase secured with railings leads up to the Klippenkanzel. The cliff is designed as a lookout point. In addition to a guardrail, there is a bench and a weather vane. The weather vane bears the coat of arms of Thale and the inscription Thale 1993. From the Bülowshöhe there is a good view of the Bode Valley and the town of Thale.
The name Bülowshöhe goes back to the Thaler Oberforstmeister Heinrich August Wilhelm von Bülow, who made the area accessible to hikers in the years 1815 to 1818 by creating hiking trails along the Bode and to the Rosstrappe. The use of the name Bülowshöhe is documented as early as the 1820s.
