Amtsgericht, Bad Gandersheim
Facts and practical information
Bad Gandersheim District Court is one of nine district courts in the district court district of Braunschweig. It has its seat in Bad Gandersheim and is the smallest district court in Lower Saxony.
Since January 1, 2013, the Bad Gandersheim Local Court has only been responsible for the town of Bad Gandersheim and thus has around 10,000 court residents. With the incorporation of the municipality of Kreiensen, which previously also belonged to the jurisdiction of the Bad Gandersheim Local Court, into the city of Einbeck, the Einbeck Local Court took over jurisdiction for the area of the former municipality of Kreiensen. As a result, this area also changed from the district court district of Braunschweig to the district court district of Göttingen.
The superior court is the Regional Court of Braunschweig. The competent higher regional court is the Higher Regional Court of Braunschweig.
Since 1859, the district court has been housed in the palace of the former Gandersheim Castle, which was built by the Dukes of Brunswick in the 13th century.
