Water tower, Haldensleben
Facts and practical information
The Trendelberg water tower is a water tower located on the Trendelberg north of the town of Haldensleben in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.
The tower, which is currently not in use, was built in 1910 and was part of the drinking water supply of the city of Haldensleben. The tower, which is reminiscent of a keep, has a square ground plan, is 30 meters high and carries an elevated tank with a capacity of 300 m³ of water. The base of the tower is made of humped ashlars. Pilaster strips made of the same material enclose plastered facade surfaces. The top floor has a gallery created with round arch supports. Above it towers the spire with a mansard roof. The water tower, which characterizes the landscape and is a listed building, received a new roof in 1981.
In the 1930s to 1940s, the site at the water tower was used for glider or glider training with the SG-38, among others.
