The Leuchtenburg is a hilltop castle near Seitenroda in Thuringia. The redeveloped medieval castle complex is used for tourism and houses the exhibition Porzellanwelten Leuchtenburg, a museum and, as part of a modern extension, a walkable footbridge of wishes projecting into the valley The castle grants a wide panoramic view of the Middle Saale Valley as well as the Thuringian timberland on a widely visible mountain cone with a height of 395 m above sea level. The light castle is considered as "queen of the Saale valley". In its long and eventful history, the castle complex was a medieval official residence, poorhouse as well as lunatic asylum and penitentiary and has been used for tourism since the end of the 19th century. Since 2007 it has been under the administration of the Leuchtenburg Foundation.
