Berliner Torturm, Altlandsberg
Facts and practical information
The Berlin Gate Tower is the oldest part of the city fortifications of Altlandsberg, a town in the district of Märkisch-Oderland in Brandenburg.
In the 13th century, the city fortifications of Altlandsberg, which are still partially preserved today, were built. On a 22 meter long base there was once a 1.2 meter wide and 7 meter high house wall made of field stones. In the 14th century, a gate building was placed on top of this wall, as well as the town wall, on the gable of which an 18-meter-high tower with a pyramid helmet was erected. In 1820 the gate was removed.
The Berlin Gate Tower can be climbed as an observation tower and offers a good view of the old town.
