Burgruine Arnstein

Arnstein Castle is the ruin of a hilltop castle on the edge of the Harz Mountains and is located in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt. The ruin stands on a 210 m above sea level elevation between the towns of Sylda and Harkerode south of Aschersleben and northwest of Hettstedt. In the 12th century, the castle of the Lords of Arnstein with its impressive tower-like palace building visible from afar emerged from the medieval fortification. Since the 19th century, it has been known beyond the region as a romantic ruin.
