Falkensteiner Höhle, Bad Urach
Facts and practical information
Falkenstein Cave is located in Baden-Württemberg on the Swabian Alb between Grabenstetten and Bad Urach. It is an active water cave, which means that precipitation seeps through the karst of the Alb plateau, collects in water-bearing crevices and passages, and enters the open air through the cave. The waters of the cave form the source of the Elsach River. Since 2019, it has been designated as an important geotope and geopoint of the UNESCO Swabian Alb Geopark.
The Falkenstein Cave is not a show cave, but a natural cave or wild cave, the entrance to which is allowed only upon request and is not without danger.
