Rheda Castle is a former moated castle in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Gütersloh County. Rheda Castle is internationally known for its double chapel from the Staufer period and its valuable music library.
Rheda Castle is one of the mighty early moated castles in Westphalia, which was at the same time the center of an imperial dominion and underwent the transformation from a medieval fortified building to a Baroque residence of the sovereign. Under the protection of the castle, the town of Rheda was founded in the 14th century as the economic center of the small dominion of Rheda.
The castle has been the ancestral seat of the princely house of Bentheim-Tecklenburg since 1557. Rheda Castle and Park is part of the 100 Castles Route.
