Straubing Zoo is located in the western part of the city of Straubing. Straubing Zoo is currently home to over 2000 individuals of about 200 species, mainly mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish. The zoo participates in several European conservation breeding programs, for example for bison, Amur tigers, spectacled penguins or Balistars. It is a partner zoo of the Stiftung Artenschutz as well as a member of several national and international zoo associations and species conservation organizations such as WAZA and ZGAP.
