St. Nicolai Church in the Altenbruch district of Cuxhaven belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church and is one of the farm domes in the Hadeln region. It stands on a flat land elevation, a Wurth, so that it usually remained dry during floods and offered refuge to the people living in the surrounding area. This land elevation was enclosed by a ditch. The present meadow around the church was the cemetery in former times. The recovered grave slabs are preserved from weathering and exhibited in the church.
