Erika-Hess-Eisstadion, Berlin
Facts and practical information
The Erika Heß Ice Stadium is the third largest ice rink in Berlin. It was completed in 1967 and is the home of the Berlin ice hockey club FASS Berlin, which has played in the colloquially named Erika Heß since 1972. The rink is named after former Wedding district mayor Erika Heß. Initially open on all sides and used exclusively for ice sports, the facility was converted into a multipurpose hall in 1982/83.
It is located in the Berlin district of Wedding and is under the administration of the Mitte district. Due to its conceptual design as a multi-purpose hall, other events also take place there.
The ice stadium also includes a second ice rink outside the stadium, which is open to the public.
As part of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany, a Corona vaccination center for Moderna's mRNA-1273 vaccine was established at the ice rink in 2021.
