Steinkammer Staberdorf, Fehmarn
Facts and practical information
The passage grave of Staberdorf, at a height of 23.3 m at Hinrichsberg, north of Staberdorf is located on the island of Fehmarn in the district of Ostholstein in Schleswig-Holstein. The megalithic site of the Funnel Beaker Culture was built between 3500 and 2800 BC and has the Sprockhoff No. 256.
The slightly bent megalithic grave is located in the middle of farmland and is one of the last, relatively undestroyed megalithic graves of Fehmarn. In the tourist brochure it is erroneously stated that it is a mound bed, in which the remains of two burial chambers are found. All 14 supporting stones are in situ. Two capstones stand on the northern narrow side, and one is missing on the south. Five capstones, some of which are impressive, are in situ.
E. Sprockhoff speaks in 1931 of a 10.0 × 1.7 m long chamber, with a conspicuous bend in the middle. E. Sprockhoff assumed that the middle yoke of the strangely bent chamber was missing. However, he also considered it possible that it was two chambers standing very close to each other. Both variants are so far unique in the area of passage graves.
