Facts and practical information
The Upper Castle is the landmark of the Thuringian town of Greiz. It is an architecturally valuable and striking cultural monument.
The first documented references to a Greiz castle complex built there by the bailiffs of Weida and Plauen date back to 1209 and 1225. Even though the function of the complex has changed in the course of time to representation, remains of the old castle fortifications can still be seen in some places today.
