Schloss Fürstenberg, Fürstenberg/Havel
Facts and practical information
Fürstenberg Palace is a three-winged Baroque building with rococo decoration in the Brandenburg town of Fürstenberg/Havel. It is located on an island north of the old town center with the field name Mühlenkamp. It was built between 1741 and 1752 as the widow's residence of Mecklenburg-Strelitz Duchess Dorothea Sophie.
Schloss Fürstenberg was designed as a two-story, plastered solid building with a gable roof. The spacious ground plan is based on the design of Mirow Castle. The side wings of the horseshoe-shaped complex enclose an approximately 20-meter-long and wide courtyard of honor. The three-story central building is divided by smooth pilasters and decorated by fine stucco in the forms of the Rococo. The final Baroque pediment features the Mecklenburg coat of arms and the Danish Order of the Elephant.
