Kunstwerk Sammlung Klein
Facts and practical information
Kunstwerk - Sammlung Alison und Peter W. Klein is a private art museum of the entrepreneurial couple Alison and Peter W. Klein in Eberdingen-Nussdorf, about 35 kilometers northwest of Stuttgart. The collection includes about 2000 works of contemporary art, which have been purchased since the 1980s. The collection focuses on painting, drawing and photography as well as Australian Aboriginal art.
The privately financed museum is supported by the Alison and Peter Klein Foundation, which, among other things, awarded the "Foundation Prize for Photographic Art" worth 10,000 euros from 2009 to 2011. The prize winners were Christine Fenzl, Stephanie Kiwitt, Sascha Weidner and Andrea Grützner. Together with the photographs of the respective finalists, their works were exhibited in the Kunstwerk.
Since 2007, the collection has been open to the public in a museum building designed by the Pforzheim architects Folker Rockel. Two exhibitions with works from the collection can be seen each year on an area of around 1000 m², which extends over four levels. The entire museum is barrier-free. The annex building has been home to CafeK since 2012.
