Hainich-Blick, Hainich National Park
Facts and practical information
The Hainichblick is a lookout tower near Hütscheroda, a district of Hörselberg-Hainich in the Wartburgkreis and is located in the Hainich National Park in Thuringia.
Opened on June 17, 2011, the tower stands on Heidelberg and has a height of 20.15 meters. It was built as a wooden structure and has an open staircase accessible via the artificially raised hill Generalsblick as well as a roofed viewing platform at a height of 16 meters. For the construction 34 solid cubic meters of wood were processed, only native timber species were used: Larch, oak, Douglas fir and spruce. Chemical wood preservatives were not used.
The tower is located in the western part of the national park area at the newly developing "Wildcat Trail". The location was previously known as "Generalshügel" - this is a relict heaped up several meters high from the time of the military training area Kindel.
With the newly created observation tower, the national park has another attractive sight that can be visited without admission. The tower is a landmark and serves for orientation in the southern open area of the park.
