Facts and practical information
The Moritzburg State Stud is the state stud of the states of Saxony and Thuringia. It is located in Moritzburg near Dresden. Together with the main stud in Graditz, it forms the Saxon Stud Administration and has been a commercially oriented state enterprise since 2004.
The tasks of the state stud mainly comprise the provision of state stud horses of the breeds warmblood, heavy warmblood, cold blood and Haflinger for the Free States of Saxony and Thuringia as well as the performance tests of stallions and mares. Furthermore, the State School for Riding and Driving, which is integrated into the State Stud, offers training courses. The annual stallion parades held in September, which were first held in 1924, are known beyond the region.
