Burgruine Schreckenmanklitz, Lindenberg im Allgäu
Facts and practical information
Schreckenmanklitz Castle, also called Kellhöf Castle or Feste zum Anklis, is a departed moated castle on a pond near the district of Schreckenmanklitz of the market Weiler-Simmerberg in the district of Lindau in Bavaria.
The moated castle was mentioned in 1366 and was described as dilapidated as early as 200 years later in 1569. The lords of Weiler, who were probably servants of the abbot of St. Gallen, and the lords of Hertenegg are mentioned as the owners of the castle. Only a few remains of the walls of the former castle are still standing.
