The Rindermarkthalle St. Pauli in Hamburg was rebuilt in 1950/51 as a covered central cattle market at the northwest corner of the Heiligengeistfeld. The building, formerly part of the Hamburg slaughterhouse, is a listed building. It has been fundamentally renovated for a new use since 2012 after an interruption in use and the dismantling of partly dilapidated fixtures. The building complex, which covers almost 15,000 square meters, has been open again since September 18, 2014. The Rindermarkthalle St. Pauli houses around 30 stores as well as space primarily for district-related initiatives.
