Fort Gorgast

Fort Gorgast-is located in Gorgast near national road No. 1, built in 1883-1889, the Artillery Fort is one of the four forts of the Kostrzyn fortress. Other forts are: Czarnów, Sarbinowo and Żabice. The assumptions were to protect the Main Fortress, but the development of military technology occurred so quickly that they lost their strategic goal before the final one was put into use. Until World War I, they were illuminated with oil lamps, and communication was carried out using post -pigeons. The forts were made of brick, they also had earth embankments for artillery and lower infantry. From September 9, 1997, the building is entered in the register of monuments.
