Luisentor, Demmin

Luisentor, called Kuhtor until 1821, is the only preserved city gate of Demmin. It was the highest gate building of Demmin's town fortification and at the same time the most important one, as it served to secure the eastern side of the town, which was not protected by natural barriers. It was also on this side that most of the attacks on Demmin took place. With a height of 31 meters, it is the second highest city gate in Pomerania after the Anklam Stone Gate.
