Facts and practical information

Rüdenburg, also known as Alte Grafenburg or Old Castle for short, is a castle remnant near Arnsberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis district in North Rhine-Westphalia. The hilltop castle was built with some certainty between 1050 and 1062 by Count Bernhard II of Werl. The designation of the old castle serves to distinguish it from the count's castle on the later Arnsberg Schlossberg, which is separated by the Ruhr valley.
