Natureum Niederelbe
Facts and practical information
Natureum Niederelbe is an open-air museum near the North Sea in the village of Balje. It is located on an island created by the construction of the Ostesperrwerk. The museum consists of several buildings with permanent and special exhibitions as well as a park area of about 100,000 m² with open-air exhibitions, nature trails and walking paths. The focus is on the nature of the Lower Elbe region, which is also the reason for the museum's motto "Broaden horizons - experience the coast". In addition to the exhibitions, some native and rare animal species can be seen. Due to the nearby nature reserves Hadelner and Belumer Außendeich, bird sanctuary Hullen and wild bird reserve Nordkehdingen, there are also various stations for observing migratory birds.
