Facts and practical information
Tofana is the name of a rock tower in the western Harz Mountains.
It is located on the left, western side of the Oker valley in the area of the Eagle Cliffs, is mainly oriented to the east and is about 30 m high. It consists of gray to black colored, rounded and coarse crystalline granite.
The rock has been developed and exposed for sport climbing and is supervised by IG Klettern Niedersachsen. Several climbing routes have been established, but in general it is necessary to provide your own protection, e.g. with wedges and friends. Climbing is prohibited on part of the south side.
