Old Town Hall, Potsdam

The Old Town Hall is located at Potsdam's Alter Markt 9 in the immediate vicinity of the Church of St. Nicholas, the Barberini Museum and the Potsdam City Palace. It was built between 1753 and 1755 based on ideas and commissioned by Frederick the Great according to plans by master builders Johann Boumann and Christian Ludwig Hildebrandt. As with other buildings in Potsdam, Italian Baroque architecture provided the model.
Until 1945, the Old Town Hall was used for the city administration and city treasury, after the severe damage in World War II, it was rebuilt as a cultural center. Since 2012, it has been home to the Potsdam Museum.
