Thanks to its great snow conditions, scenic views, exciting nightlife, Bansko is gaining popularity year by year.
What makes the resort so attractive is its prices. Bansko is not only the cheapest ski resort in the Balkans – it may as well be one of the best options in whole Europe. The white paradise is open from December to mid-May, therefore travelers may choose a time best suited to their needs. Try out around 47 mi of well-groomed pistes and reach the highest point of 8530 ft – in Bansko, you are guaranteed to have an experience unlike any other. Whether you are just starting out on the slopes or are an experienced rider, you will have a blast.
Serre-Chevalier Briançon, France
Generally, France is considered to be a quite expensive ski destination. But Serre-Chevalier-Briançon is a great exception. Located in Southeastern France, in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, the resort has a vast skiing area, with more than 155 mi of slopes. If you are chasing sunshine – this is the place to be because the resort has sun 300 days a year.
When visiting Serre-Chevalier-Briançon, be prepared for skiing deep powder! Since the area extends from Briançon to Monetier-Les Bains, there is a pretty big terrain to go around. But the fun skiing is not the only reason why you should consider visiting the resort. Explore the rustic old villages, wander around its charming streets, and have a feel of history. Furthermore, Briançon is now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so it is definitely a place to see.
After you have had a long day of skiing, the fun doesn't have to end. In the resort, you may choose from a variety of different activities – fat-tire bike riding, mountain karting, ice-driving, dog sledding, skating, tobogganing, and so much more.
Vogel, Slovenia

Val Cenis, France
Situated in the Haute, Marienne region of the French Alps, right next to the Italian border, you will find Val Cenis – a resort that combines comfort and reasonable prices. Although Val Cenis isn't as known as other snowy destinations in the Alps, it’s a serious competitor with its big ski area and modern infrastructure.
In total, you will find 78 mi of trails that feature pretty fast lifts. Furthermore, Vel Cenis includes some of the most beautiful ski slopes in the world, therefore you may enjoy a truly scenic ride. The resort will be a good choice for beginners as there are ten green runs to take your skills to the next level, but advanced skiers will find have some fun too. Whenever you get tired of the slopes, you will find plenty of exciting activities to participate in. Book a paragliding lesson or perhaps have a donkey-pulled carriage ride – in Vel Cenis, you won't be bored.
Madesimo, Italy
There is no place in the world like Italy. Home to the best pizzas and pasta, beautiful art, and villages, it is also a country that offers great skiing opportunities. When looking for the most affordable ski resorts, you shouldn't miss Madesimo, nestled in the Spluga Valley.
The winter-wonderland has nearly 37 mi of downhill ski slopes and 12.4 mi of cross country ski trails. Pay attention to the beautiful vistas all around and enjoy the powdery snow while not spending a fortune – what can be better? Currently, the resort is equipped with three gondolas and nine chair lifts, ready to take you on your adventure on the slopes. If you decide to change your skis for a snowboard, make sure to stop by the Acquarela Snowpark.
The streets of Madesimo are lined with fantastic shops and incredible restaurants that will make your taste buds do a happy dance. If you are looking for a party, stop by the Shamrock Pub and the Tender Disco Bar, and dance your worries away.
Jasná Nízke Tatry / Chopok, Slovakia
Ready to explore Tatra Mountains? Whether you are with your family, friends, or just starting out on skis, Jasna should definitely be on your radar. The gorgeous resort is nestled at the heart of the mountains of Low Tatras, which are a part of NAPANT national park. Jasna is Slovakia's largest ski resort, yet it is still a relatively cheap ski resort. Although it is most suited for beginners and families, also advanced skiers will find good trails.
The resort includes 28 cable cars and chairlifts that work fast and comfortably. If you are curious to explore other ski destinations as well, just a stone's throw away, you will find Tatranská Lomnica and Štrbské Pleso. In the village of the resort, you will find all sorts of restaurants as well as fantastic sports shops. Don't forget to try the local cuisine, especially bryndzové halušky – dumplings made of sheep's cheese and bacon.
Boí–Taüll, Spain
When looking for budget-friendly resorts in Europe, you shouldn't look past Spain and, more specifically, Boí–Taüll. Its lowest point towers at 6627 ft – that is how impressive the mountain is. Boí–Taüll will be an excellent choice for those who prefer to stay clear from crowds and love to travel with their families since it is a kid-friendly destination.
The resort mostly has red and black trails, which are suited for advanced skiers, however, beginners also have plenty of trails to take. What makes the area even more unique is its stunning architecture and delicious food. Trying spiced snails and chocolate crepes is a must!
