Wielki Kopieniec, Tatra National Park
Facts and practical information
Wielki Kopieniec or simply Kopieniec - a coniferous peak in the Chochołowska Valley in the Western Tatras. It is located on the extension of Kulawiec ridge from Trzydniowiańske Wierch to the north, in the very corner of Chochołowska Valley and Starorobociańska Valley. Its slopes descend to these valleys and to the Krowiniec gully, cut into the northern slopes of the Trzydniowiań Wierch. To the south from the top of the Big Kopieniec there is a pass called the Kopieniecowy Prze喚ród separating it from the higher, but less outstanding Small Kopieniec.
It is completely covered with forest and there are no hiking trails leading through it. From the Chochołowska Glade it is visible as a forested mound at the foot of Kominiarski Wierch.
In the dialect of Podhale, Kopieniec is called a mountain with a shape similar to a mound. In the Tatra Mountains there is another peak of the same name - Wielki Kopieniec in Dolina Olczyska.
