List West, Sylt

The white lighthouse List West is located on the Sylt peninsula Ellenbogen. It was built by the Kingdom of Denmark and is not only the northernmost lighthouse, but also the northernmost building in Germany. It is also the oldest lighthouse on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein and the first lighthouse in Germany made of cast iron.
The now electrically operated directional and orientation light is equipped with a 230 V/250 W metal halide lamp and has been remotely controlled since 1977. The identification is every six seconds an interruption of the light, generated by a revolving aperture. Climbing or visiting is not possible.
List West has a twin tower List East, which was put into service at the same time and is slightly taller at 13.6 meters.
