The monument to Otto von Freising is a stone sculpture on the cathedral hill of Freising. It commemorates the 22nd Bishop of Freising, who is considered one of the most important historians of the Middle Ages.
The monument is an early work of the German sculptor Caspar von Zumbusch. It was unveiled on November 19, 1857 in the center of the cathedral courtyard in front of Freising Cathedral on the site of the Mohrenbrunnen, which was demolished in 1803.
It shows Otto in life-size representation with the attributes characterizing him: standing in the chasuble with miter, the crosier clamped under the left arm, in the left the Holy Scripture, in the right a quill, which refers to his literary activity. The sculpture stands on a stone pedestal. On its front side the inscription: OTTO VON FREISING BISHOP AND HISTORICAL WRITER.
