Komödiantenbrunnen, Heilbronn
Facts and practical information
The New City Fountain is a fountain designed by sculptor Eberhard Linke in 1996 on Kiliansplatz in Heilbronn, northern Baden-Württemberg.
The first plans for a new city fountain in Heilbronn date back to the redesign of Kiliansplatz in 1988, when the desire arose for a contemporary counterpart to the historic seven-tube fountain located on the same square. Eventually, sculptor Eberhard Linke was commissioned to design a new fountain. The fountain he created from bronze, concrete and sandstone has a base area of about 9 × 16 meters and features various comedic motifs borrowed from the Italian commedia dell'arte: Masked people, musicians and instruments. Because of the motivic theme, the fountain is also called the Comedians' Fountain. The bronze figures are up to 2.80 meters high. The fountain is equipped with a water feature.
