Facts and practical information
The 19-Lachter-Stollen is a water solution gallery of the Upper Harz mining industry.
The mouth of the tunnel is located in Wildemann, a district of the mining and university town of Clausthal-Zellerfeld. From here, it extends over a length of 8.8 km to behind Clausthal-Zellerfeld. In its course, the adit served for dewatering, i.e. the drainage of the accumulating mine water, of the ore mines connected to it in the Wildemann, the Zellerfeld and later also the Clausthal mining district.
In 2010, the 19-lachter gallery was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site as a part of the Oberharzer Wasserregal under the designation Bergwerk Rammelsberg, Altstadt von Goslar and Oberharzer Wasserwirtschaft.
