The Alamannenmuseum Ellwangen in Ellwangen was opened in 2001 and provides a lively overview of 500 years of Alamannic history from the early Middle Ages with finds from all over southern Germany. Due to the difficult budget situation of the city of Ellwangen, the city council discussed closing the museum in 2010. The Alamannenmuseum is open from Tuesday to Friday between 2 and 5 pm and on Saturday and Sunday between 1 and 5 pm.
