Reformationskirche, Hilden
Facts and practical information
The Reformation Church of Hilden is located on the market square in Hilden in the district of Mettmann. Together with the Quirinus Minster in Neuss and the Abbey Church of St. Ludgerus in Essen-Werden, the Protestant parish church is one of the most important late Romanesque-style gallery basilicas in the Lower Rhine region. Originally a Catholic church, it was first dedicated to St. Jacob the Elder, then transferred to the Protestants after the Peace of Westphalia and bore the designation "Protestant Church" until 1958. Since 1958, at the start of the construction of other Protestant churches in Hilden, it has borne the designation "Reformation Church".
