On the street Oberer Bürglaß, opposite the back of the Landestheater in Coburg, stands the 18th-century neoclassical building of Bürglaß-Schlösschen, which was called Bulgaren-Schlösschen or Augusten-Palais until the 1950s. It served as the residence of Tsar Ferdinand of Bulgaria for 30 years after his abdication until 1948. Today the palace is used as a registry office.
