Ulrepforte, Cologne
Facts and practical information
The Ulrepforte was built in the early 13th century as part of the medieval city walls of Cologne. It is mentioned in documents for the first time in 1245. The Ulrepforte has been preserved with significant structural changes. In front of it passes the street Sachsenring as part of the Cologne Rings.
The Ulrepforte was the smallest of the land-side city gates with a width of four meters. Since there was no road on the field side, the gate probably had no significance for traffic.
Today, Ulrepforte is known as a streetcar stop for lines 15 and 16.
