The Bilal Mosque in Aachen was built between 1964 and 1971 on the grounds of the Aachen University of Technology and named after Bilal al-Habaschi. It is the fifth oldest mosque still in existence in Germany after the Wilmersdorf Mosque in Berlin, the Fazle Omar Mosque in Hamburg, the Nuur Mosque in Frankfurt am Main, and the Imam Ali Mosque in Hamburg, as well as the fourth mosque built in Germany after World War II. The Bilal Mosque is considered a pioneer in terms of interfaith dialogue.
