St. Elisabeth, Hagen
Facts and practical information
St. Elisabeth is a Roman Catholic church in Hagen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
The laying of the foundation stone of the church took place on June 28, 1925, and the consecration took place on April 18, 1927. The first parish priest of the parish vicarage was Father Ubald Michels, OFM. The church, in neo-baroque style, was dedicated to St. Elizabeth. On April 1, 1934 the parish vicarage became an independent parish.
The four-part cast steel chime was purchased in 1954 and sounds in c-sharp'-e'-f-sharp'-a'.
Until October 16, 1988, Franciscan fathers led the congregation, hence the popular name Monastery Church.
Today, the parish of St. Elisabeth, together with the parish of Heilig Geist, Hagen-Emst, belongs to the pastoral association Hagen-Mitte in the archdiocese of Paderborn. Since the fall of 2009, the workday chapel has housed the Young Church of the Hagen-Witten deanery.
