The portrait of Dr. Bircher-Benner is a listed bronze bust of the Swiss physician and nutritionist Maximilian Oskar Bircher-Benner, who is considered a pioneer of the whole foods diet.
The work, created by the Frankfurt sculptor Georg Krämer and unveiled in 1965, is located in the Bad Homburg spa park in the Kirdorf district of Bad Homburg. The bust, which stands on a base of shell limestone, is a donation from the "Society for Health Culture," of which Bircher-Benner had been chairman.
The inscription reads: "Dr. Med. Max Oskar Bircher-Benner, the father of the new nutritional theory 1867-1939".
